Take the stress out of planning your honeymoon with these simple tips

Does planning your honeymoon fill you with excitement or cold dread? There’s a lot of pressure to make it the perfect end to your big day after months of planning and preparation. We’ve put together a few tips to help make sure you get your dream holiday without too much stress. ..

Don’t forget about it. It’s so easy to get caught up in the tiny details of your wedding day – favours, invites, table decorations – that your honeymoon can be seen as bit of an afterthought. But we think it’s as important as the big day so make sure you do plenty of research into where you want to go and when.

Your honeymoon doesn’t have to fit into a box. As with everything wedding related, you might have some preconceptions about what your honeymoon should be like. But if you don’t like beaches or crave off-the-beaten-track-adventure, make sure you tailor it for what you want and not what you think you should have.

Set your budget. Weddings are expensive and add up quickly. Make sure you factor in a realistic budget for your honeymoon when you’re thinking of the overall cost. Take a look at our honeymoon suggestions for more ideas.

Plan when you want to go. You don’t have to jet off immediately after your wedding if it’s the rainy season in Borneo or overcast in South Africa. Choosing the best time of year to visit your dream destination is going to make for a much more memorable – and ultimately more cost-effective – holiday.

Think about your gift list. If you already have a toaster and are perfectly happy with your mugs, why not ask your guests to contribute to your honeymoon fund? They can give you money to help pay for your holiday or buy you individual activities while you’re away. We’re always happy to help you with your honeymoon gift list – just give us a call.

Leave plenty of time to book it. You’re most likely to get a good deal and the holiday you want if you leave time to plan it. Last minute offers are great if you don’t mind where you go, but if you want to make sure those precious weeks off work aren’t wasted; make sure you’ve included everything you want.

Use a good tour operator. Google is great for ideas and reviews and helping you decide where you want to go. But tour operators (like us) have up to date knowledge and great contacts and we can put together a bespoke honeymoon package just for you.

Keep your stress levels down. It might be the happiest day of your life but the run up generally has a few hiccups. Booking with a tour operator you trust means that if something does go wrong, they’re there to fix it for you or offer an alternative. They’ll also do a lot of the planning on your behalf, which frees up space so you can worry about those table plans.

Relax. It’s just a holiday. The very best bit will be going away for the first time as a married couple. So take a look at some of these ideas, decide what you’d love to do and give us a call so we can tailor-make your honeymoon just for you.
