This immersive 10-day tour explores the remarkable birdlife and wildlife of Uttarakhand’s Himalayan foothills. Journey through Corbett National Park, Pangot and Sattal in search of Himalayan specialities including Koklass Pheasant, Lammergeier, Orange-headed Thrush and Great Hornbill, alongside the possibility of seeing tigers, Asian elephants and leopards.

Day 1: Delhi


Arrive in Delhi, where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in a private chauffeur-driven vehicle. After checking in, the remainder of the day is yours to relax or begin exploring India’s historic capital. An optional guided city tour can also be arranged.

Day 2: Corbett National Park


After breakfast, leave Delhi and travel to Corbett National Park, with stops along the way. Once you have checked into your lodge, join a guided nature walk through the surrounding forest in search of birds, butterflies, small mammals and other local wildlife.

Day 3: Corbett National Park


Begin the morning with a two-hour guided birding trail in the Dhela Zone, which attracts an impressive variety of resident and migratory species. Return to the lodge for breakfast and time to relax before heading into Corbett National Park on a private afternoon game drive with an expert wildlife naturalist. Look out for tigers, elephants, leopards, deer and some of the park’s 580 bird species.

Day 4: Corbett National Park


Spend a full day birdwatching among the riverine habitats, forest edges and Shivalik foothills surrounding Garjia, Mohan and Kumeria. Explore these varied landscapes at a relaxed pace while searching for species such as Ibisbill, Wallcreeper, Crested Kingfisher, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Brown Dipper, Little Forktail and White-capped Water Redstart.

Day 5: Pangot


Enjoy one final morning game drive in Corbett National Park before returning to the lodge for breakfast. You will then travel to Pangot, stopping at the Jim Corbett Museum to learn about the renowned conservationist’s life and legacy. Continue into the Himalayan foothills, where you may catch your first distant views of the mountains.

Day 6: Pangot


Spend the entire day birdwatching around Pangot, beginning with an early excursion to Cheena Peak and a packed breakfast in the field. Explore woodland trails, streams and feeding grounds in search of Cheer Pheasant, Koklass Pheasant, Hill Partridge and numerous smaller Himalayan species. As dusk falls, head out again for an evening owling session, with the possibility of seeing Himalayan Owl and Mountain Scops Owl.

Day 7: Bhimtal and Sattal


After breakfast, travel approximately to Bhimtal. Along the way, stop at the forested ridge of Ayarpatta, where oak, deodar and rhododendron woodland supports woodpeckers, barbets, flycatchers and other Himalayan birds. If time permits, visit Nainital before continuing to your hotel in Bhimtal. After checking in, enjoy an afternoon birdwatching excursion around Sattal’s lakes and forests.

Day 8: Sattal


Spend a full day exploring Sattal’s finest birdwatching trails with an expert local guide. Its peaceful lakes, dense oak and pine forests and varied waterside habitats attract a remarkable selection of resident and migratory birds. Your guide will help locate and identify the area’s wildlife as you explore this beautiful corner of the Kumaon region.

Day 9: Delhi


After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey to Delhi in your private vehicle. Depending on the time available, you may stop for some final birdwatching and possibly visit the River Ganges along the way. Arrive in Delhi and spend your final night close to the airport.

Day 10: Departure


After breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet your driver for the assisted transfer to Delhi airport. Continue to the terminal and board your return flight home.
