Day 1: Arrive in Kuching

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

The Waterfront Hotel is located in the heart of Kuching City, where decades-old heritage buildings sit alongside modern buildings. With one of the best views of the Padang Merdeka and the Sarawak River, the hotel is not only a place to rest, but a start to your adventures in Kuching City.

Day 2: Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife Centre

Depart for Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. This orangutan rehabilitation centre trains orphaned or rescued orangutans how to survive in the wild. Over 20 orangutans live in the forest within the nature reserve and often return to the centre at feeding times.

Afternoon at leisure.

Day 3: Bako National Park

After breakfast, drive to the Bako National Park. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural setting.

The various types of animals that are commonly spotted at Bako include proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards and numerous species of birds. There are several trails to follow inside the park depending on level of fitness and interest. The park’s coastline is dotted with small bays, coves and beaches.

Day 4: Kuching at leisure

Kuching is defined by its historic waterfront, and the perfect introduction is to take a sunset stroll along the one-mile pedestrian promenade that follows the snaking Sarawak River. Boasted as one of the cleanest cities in Asia, Kuching has just the right amount of tourism. The food in Kuching is excellent, while prices are yet to be inflated by the tourist masses. Enjoy Sarawak’s hidden gem!

Day 5: Kuching – Menyang Tais Longhouse

Drive to Batang Ai reservoir. Stop at Lachau Bazaar to stroll around the shops. Upon arrival, proceed by longboat to Menyang Tais. In the evening, relax on the ruai (common verandah) and spend time with the Iban people.

Overnight in the longhouse.

Day 6: Menyang Tais Longhouse – Jungle Walk – Kuching

Following breakfast, depart for a short jungle walk around the village area or visit one of the local farms nearby. Return to the longhouse for an early lunch. Travel by longboat downriver to the Batang Ai Lake jetty and continue overland back to Kuching.

Arrive in Kuching and continue for your stay on the Santubong coast.

Day 7: Discover Santubong and the Sarawak coast (B)

Beyond rejuvenating urban weary souls, guests at Cove 55 are encouraged to discover and immerse in the pride of Sarawakian land during your stay – be it booking a guide and hiking up Mount Santubong, spending time observing orangutans in their natural habitat, searching for crocodiles on a boat tour or more. Day 8: Kuching – Mulu Park (B, D)

An early departure this morning, for the short flight to Mulu Airport, where, upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Trek to Deer Cave, the world’s largest cave passage. Marvel at its scale and moon-like landscape. Visit Langs Cave with its stunning stalactites and stalagmites and watch millions of bats emerge from Deer Cave at sunset. Trek back by torchlight.

Day 9: Clearwater & Wind Caves (B, L, D)

In the morning, proceed by longboat upriver to Wind Cave with its impressive ‘King’s Chamber’. Here, stalactites and stalagmites with delicate lace-like patterns are found. After a short walk, arrive at Clearwater Cave: Unique plants like the one-leafed plant thrive here and photo-sensitive algae create needle-like formations. Near Clearwater Cave there is a wonderful swimming area shaded by giant rainforest trees.

Enjoy a simple picnic or packed lunch, swim or relax before returning to your accommodation. The rest of the afternoon is free at your leisure.
