Zimbabwe Safari Explorer

£3,565.00

An 8-day safari journey that pairs three nights at Victoria Falls with two distinct Hwange stays, linked by light aircraft. Start on the Zambezi at one of Africa’s defining natural spectacles, with time to choose your pace from relaxed river time to high-adrenaline options. Then fly into Hwange for classic game drives and walking safaris from Camp Chitubu, before switching to Jozibanini in a private southwestern concession, overlooking a pan and adding night drives, an underground hide and the option of mountain biking on elephant paths.

Day 1: Victoria Falls

Arrive into Victoria Falls and meet your driver for the transfer to your lodge. Time to settle in and start orientating yourself around town, with the falls and the Zambezi close enough to shape the day around whatever time you have after arrival. Overnight at Insika Lodge.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

Full day in Victoria Falls. Spend time on the Zimbabwe side for wide viewpoints and footpaths through rainforest kept hot and humid by the spray, then choose from the area’s broad activity menu if you want to add more. Options described include sunset cruising on the upper Zambezi, helicopter scenic flights, village visits and souvenir shopping, plus adventure activities such as white water rafting in the Batoka Gorge and bungee jumping. Overnight at Insika Lodge.

Day 3: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park

This morning, take a shared air transfer to Shumba airstrip, then continue into Hwange for your first safari base. Settle into camp and begin activities in one of Zimbabwe’s headline wildlife areas, where waterholes draw heavy movement and the scale of the landscape is part of the experience. Overnight at Camp Chitubu.

Day 4: Hwange National Park

Full day on activities from camp, combining game drives and walking safaris. Hwange is described as having huge numbers of elephant and buffalo moving to water, alongside strong predator populations including lion, leopard and cheetah, with African wild dogs also noted as a key conservation stronghold. Overnight at Camp Chitubu.

Day 5: Hwange National Park

Continue safari activities, using the day to work whichever areas are producing the best sightings. The park’s varied habitats are described as supporting desert-adapted, plains and woodland species, with the possibility of rarer antelope in the wider mix, including eland, sable and roan, and potentially oryx. Overnight at Camp Chitubu.

Day 6: Hwange National Park

Shared air charter back to Shumba airstrip, then onward to your second Hwange camp in the southwest, set in a private concession. Arrive at a small, exclusive camp overlooking Jozibanini Pan, with a more stripped-back, fly-camp style feel and close-to-the-action positioning over the water. Overnight at Jozibanini Camp.

Day 7: Hwange National Park

Full day at Jozibanini with activities led by your licensed guide. The programme here includes day and night drives, game walks and an underground hide, with the additional option of mountain biking along elephant paths, described as experimental and terrain-led. Overnight at Jozibanini Camp.
