Zimbabwe Intrepid Hwange

£2,545.00

A 7-day Zimbabwe journey that starts with Victoria Falls, then pushes deep into Hwange for two contrasting safari stays. Begin on the Zambezi at one of Africa’s great natural spectacles, with time to take in the falls and choose how active or relaxed you want to be, then fly into western Hwange for guided game drives and walks around the natural seeps and pans. Finish in the Ngamo Forest area on the edge of Hwange, where waterholes draw heavy wildlife traffic and the pace is shaped by day and night activities in a private reserve setting.

Day 1: Victoria Falls

Arrive into Victoria Falls and meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to settle in and start exploring, with the falls close at hand and a wide choice of optional activities available locally. Overnight at Ilala Lodge Hotel.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

Full day in Victoria Falls. Spend time on the Zimbabwe side for broad viewpoints and footpaths through the rainforest kept humid by the spray, or shape the day around optional activities such as a scenic flight, river cruising on the upper Zambezi, or other adventure options. Overnight at Ilala Lodge Hotel.

Day 3: Victoria Falls – Western Hwange National Park

Transfer for a shared air charter to Shumba airstrip, then continue into the western side of Hwange. This region is defined by grasslands, marshes and scattered woodland, with natural seeps and pans that draw wildlife in dry spells. Settle into camp and begin your first guided activities in this private concession setting. Overnight at Nehimba Lodge.

Day 4: Western Hwange National Park

Full day on lodge activities, shaped around conditions and what is moving well in the area. Activities include day and night game drives and guided walks, with strong chances of elephant and a broad spread of other mammals and birdlife across the concession’s pans and seeps. Overnight at Nehimba Lodge.

Day 5: Western Hwange National Park – Hwange National Park

Transfer to Dete Railway Station to board the train to Ngamo, then continue to your next camp in the Ngamo Forest area. The landscape opens into wide plains dotted with water pans and ilala palms, with wildlife often concentrated around key water points. Overnight at Bomani Tented Lodge.

Day 6: Hwange National Park

Full day on lodge activities, combining game drives and walks across the private reserve and, where relevant, the wider Hwange ecosystem nearby. Hwange is known for large elephant and buffalo numbers and healthy predator populations, with birding and rarer antelope species part of the wider mix. Overnight at Bomani Tented Lodge.
