Ultimate Uganda Private Safari

Day 1: Entebbe

Set on the shores of Lake Victoria, Entebbe is a small town that is easy to explore on foot or local boda bodas (motorbike taxis). Explore the markets, hunt for souvenirs or crafts, meander through the Botanical Gardens or relax with a boat cruise on Lake Victoria. You’ll find a wide variety of restaurants, bars and clubs where you can sample the local beer, catch a game of football and meet the friendly locals.

Day 2: Murchison Falls

Transfer after breakfast to Twiga Safari Lodge (or similar) with picnic lunch en route, plus an optional visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route.

The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in the country with wild rhinos. Currently home to 22 southern white rhinos, the sanctuary offers rhino trekking, shoebill trekking, canoeing, bird watching, and night walks. The game in this park is exceptional, and four of the “big five” (Cape buffalo, elephant, lion, and leopard) can be spotted…

Day 3 & 4: Murchison Falls

Aside from a game drive in Murchison Falls, a cruise to the bottom of the falls as well as a Delta Cruise for bird watching/ game viewing are included during your stay.

Witness the power of the Nile at the base of the falls, encountering hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. Bird enthusiasts can spot a variety of water birds and vibrant Bee-eaters nesting along the cliffs. The Nile delta is also home to rare wetland birds like the elusive shoebill and unique papyrus species. Keep an eye out for elephants, hippos, and Nile crocodiles as you glide towards Lake Albert.

Day 5: Kibale Forest

Head to Kibale Forest, with picnic lunch included.

Kibale is an enchanting ancient forest – rich in wildlife, it is most noted for its primate population including red-tailed monkey, diademed monkey, olive baboon, chimpanzee, black and white colobus. Two nights in the area allows time for chimpanzee trekking in the forest. Optional additional excursions include a guided forest walk, visit to the Bigodi Swamps, or the Vanilla Farm close to Ndali.

Day 6: Kibale Forest

Your Kibale Forest chimp trek will generally take place in the morning. Chimpanzees can be quite active and may move quickly through the forest canopy… or if you are lucky, you may find them resting or eating near the forest floors. It’s an exhilarating walk, in beautiful scenery.  Your guides will be able to show you different bird species and will give details of the plant species within the forest.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Depart Kibale Forest this morning and travel to Ishasha in the remote southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Located in the western arm of the Great Rift Valley, the park is home to a wide variety of wildlife including elephants, leopard, lions, hippos, buffalo, Uganda kob, baboon, and many species of birds. With both a riverine and savannah habitat, the southern Ishasha area includes the massive Maramagambo, one of the largest surviving natural forests in Uganda…

Day 8: Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

Spend the day enjoying game drives in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, rounding things off with scenic bush sundowners including drinks and snacks. Few things beat an ice-cold beverage while watching the African sunset!

Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Continue your journey onto Bwindi, with a brief stop en-route at a community project near Ishasha Village. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, with almost 400 species of plants. This ‘impenetrable’ forest is also home to an estimated 460 mountain gorillas – including several habituated families.

Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Coming face to face with mountain gorillas is a rare and exhilarating wildlife encounter. Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your party on an early morning trek into the dense rain forest on the steep mountain slopes. Once you have located your gorilla family, spend an hour quietly observing them. The time passes so quickly; be sure to enjoy this experience fully and not just through your camera lens.

Day 11: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Those with additional pre-purchased permits will depart for a second gorilla trekking experience. Or spend the day at your leisure exploring the Bwindi area – optional activities include forest walks, a visit to a local school/ orphanage/ hospital or Batwa pygmy village, or some local curio shopping.

Day 12: Entebbe – Departure

Transfer to the airstrip for your return flight Kihihi to Entebbe International airport.
