This 8-day itinerary takes you through some of Morocco’s most historic cities, combining Casablanca, Rabat, Fez and Marrakesh with time in Volubilis and the Atlas Mountains. It is a journey shaped by grand architecture, old medinas, royal landmarks and deeply rooted craft traditions, moving from the Atlantic coast to the country’s cultural heart. Along the way, Roman ruins, mosaic workshops, mountain scenery and a hands-on cooking experience give the route variety without losing sight of the classic appeal of Morocco’s imperial cities.
Day 1: Casablanca
Arrive in Casablanca and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free, allowing time to settle in before the journey begins through Morocco’s imperial cities and cultural landmarks.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat
Today introduces two of Morocco’s most important urban centres. In Casablanca, spend time discovering key landmarks and the city’s more modern character before continuing to Rabat, the capital, where royal sites, historic monuments and the Kasbah Oudaya give the day a more stately and historic feel. Return to Casablanca in the evening.
Day 3: Casablanca – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
Leave Casablanca and travel inland to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its monumental gates and long defensive walls. From here, continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis for a very different historical layer, before travelling on to Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital, for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Fez
Spend the day exploring Fez, whose ancient medina remains one of the most atmospheric in the country. Historic religious landmarks, intricate architecture, traditional tanneries and the dense energy of the souks make this one of the cultural high points of the itinerary. Later, a mosaic workshop adds a more hands-on element, offering a closer look at one of Morocco’s best-known artistic traditions.
Day 5: Fez – Marrakesh
After breakfast, leave Fez and travel south to Marrakesh. This is a transition day linking two of the country’s great historic cities, with arrival in Marrakesh in time to settle in and prepare for the next stage of the journey.
Day 6: Marrakesh
Today is devoted to Marrakesh, the second oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities and still one of its most compelling. Historic gardens, palaces and religious landmarks set the tone early on, before a cooking class with Amal offers a more personal introduction to Moroccan cuisine and culture. Later, head into the souks and Djemaa El Fna, where the city becomes busier, louder and more theatrical by the hour.
Day 7: Marrakesh – Atlas Mountains
Head out from Marrakesh into the Atlas Mountains for a day of very different scenery. Waterfalls, reservoirs, foothill landscapes and remote Berber villages give the itinerary a welcome change of pace, while time in a traditional village offers a glimpse of local hospitality and life beyond the cities. Return to Marrakesh in the afternoon.
