Madagascar Andasibe Quick Stay

A compact 5-day Madagascar escape that starts in Antananarivo’s upper town for a gentle landing, then heads east by road into the rainforest of Andasibe. Expect flagship lemurs, birdlife and proper forest time split between Mantadia National Park’s wilder trails and the Perinet Reserve’s best chances of hearing and seeing the indri, with night walks for nocturnal species before returning to Ivato Airport.
Day 1: Antananarivo
Arrive into Ivato Airport and meet your English-speaking guide, then transfer to your hotel in the upper town. Time to settle in, with the option to enjoy the pool and city views before dinner. Overnight at Maison Gallieni in a standard room (Half board).
Day 2: Antananarivo – Andasibe
After an early breakfast, drive east to Andasibe (about 4 hours) through rural landscapes of rice fields, redbrick houses and roadside produce stalls. Check in for lunch, then visit a private reserve operated by local NGO Mitsinjo, which supports reforestation, community education and amphibian conservation, with the chance to plant an indigenous species on the reforestation trail. Overnight at Mantadia Lodge in a standard room (Full board).
Day 3: Andasibe (Mantadia National Park)
Drive to Mantadia National Park (about 1.5 hours) with a picnic lunch. Hike in search of lemurs including indri, diademed sifaka, grey bamboo lemur, red-bellied lemur and white ruffed lemur, plus notable birds such as ground rollers and coua. Picnic by the Rianasoa Waterfall, then return to the lodge. Late evening night walk in the forest around the reserve to look for nocturnal lemurs including mouse lemurs, sportive lemurs and fat-tailed dwarf lemurs. Overnight at Mantadia Lodge in a standard room (Full board).
Day 4: Andasibe (Perinet Reserve)
Visit the Perinet Reserve with a local guide in search of indri, plus other rainforest lemurs such as bamboo lemurs, common brown lemur, diademed sifaka and black-and-white ruffed lemur. Birdwatching can include velvet asity, blue coua and nuthatch vanga, with chances for reptiles, invertebrates and orchids. Optional evening night walk. Overnight at Mantadia Lodge in a standard room (Full board).
Day 5: Andasibe – Antananarivo
After breakfast, transfer to Ivato Airport (about 5 hours) in time for your international flight.
