Take in Kenya’s classic safari circuit on this 7-day guided group tour, beginning in Nairobi’s leafy Karen suburb, then moving into rhino-and-lion territory at Lake Nakuru before finishing with three full safari days in the Maasai Mara’s acacia-dotted plains. Along the way you fit in Nairobi National Park, a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage, and the Karen Blixen Museum, so the trip feels like Kenya in full, not just a checklist of game drives.
Day 1: Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and meet your Odyssey World representative for a short safari briefing, then transfer to The Residences at Karen in the leafy suburbs. The evening is yours to settle in and look through your welcome pack ahead of the days to come. Overnight at The Residences at Karen.
Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast and briefing, head into Nairobi National Park for a game drive, then continue to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage to see the rescued calves being fed and cared for. Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, then stop for lunch at Matteo’s Restaurant before driving on to Nakuru. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park
Full day in Nakuru with two game drives, focusing on the park’s wildlife-rich mosaic of lakeshore and woodland. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara
After breakfast, drive to the Maasai Mara and arrive for lunch at Zebra Plains Mara Camp. Spend the afternoon unwinding, then head out for your first Mara game drive as the temperature drops and the plains come alive. Overnight at Zebra Plains Mara Camp.
Day 5: Maasai Mara
After breakfast, drive across the Mara plains in search of the Big Five and other plains game, with the option to add activities available in the reserve. Return for a mid-morning breather and lunch, then head out again for an afternoon drive. If conditions allow, visit the Mara River and the regular crossing routes. Overnight at Zebra Plains Mara Camp.
Day 6: Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives, giving you time to follow tracks properly rather than rushing between sightings. Overnight at Zebra Plains Mara Camp.
Day 7: Maasai Mara to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out with picnic lunch boxes and drive back to Nairobi for drop-off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound travel.
