Start in leafy Nairobi, then head north to Nanyuki for Mount Kenya views and hands-on wildlife experiences at Ol Pejeta, including the chimpanzee sanctuary, rhino encounters, and a lion tracking session. From there, drop into the Rift Valley for a boat ride on Lake Naivasha and a walk on Crescent Island among grazing wildlife, before finishing with three nights in the Maasai Mara for classic big-game drives and the chance to add ballooning or a Maasai village visit.

Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and meet your Odyssey World representative for a short safari briefing, then transfer to Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages. Settle into the Karen suburb, well placed for Nairobi’s key attractions if you want to add anything around your arrival. Overnight at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages.

Day 2: Nairobi to Nanyuki

Early breakfast, then drive to Nanyuki and stop for lunch at The Trout Tree, built around a huge sacred fig beside the Burguret River. After lunch, continue to Mount Kenya Safari Club for a visit to the Animal Orphanage, then check in at Soames Hotel & Jack’s Bar to freshen up before dinner. Overnight at Soames Hotel & Jack’s Bar.

Day 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy day trip

After breakfast, head to Ol Pejeta with picnic lunch boxes for a full day of wildlife experiences, including game drives, the chimpanzee sanctuary and education centre, and feeding Baraka, the tame blind black rhino. Later, join a shared-vehicle lion tracking experience, then return to Soames for dinner. Overnight at Soames Hotel & Jack’s Bar.

Day 4: Nanyuki to Lake Naivasha

After an early breakfast, descend from the Kenya Highlands into the Great Rift Valley and continue to Lake Naivasha. Arrive for lunch at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort, then head out on an afternoon boat ride for close-up birdlife and lakeside scenery. Continue to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a walk among wildlife, including giraffe, zebra, impala and gazelle. Return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, travel to the Maasai Mara and arrive for lunch at Tipilikwani Mara Camp on the Talek River. Spend the afternoon relaxing, then head out on your first game drive as the temperature drops and the animals become more active. Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara Camp.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, drive across the Mara plains in search of the Big Five and other plains game. Return for a mid-morning break and lunch, then head back out for an afternoon drive, with time to visit the Mara River and the regular crossing routes. Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara Camp.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve

A full day of game viewing in the reserve. For an additional cost, you can add a hot air balloon safari over the Mara, and visits to a local Maasai manyatta (village). Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara Camp.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast, then transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi (Wilson). On arrival, you are met and transferred to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight.
