Day 2: Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara
After breakfast, join a guided visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus) and the Great Sphinx. A brief stop at a papyrus institute or perfume shop can be arranged after the visit. Continue in the afternoon to Memphis and Sakkara, including the Step Pyramid, with insights from your Egyptologist. Optional evening sound and light show by the Sphinx. Overnight in Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel (Superior Garden View rooms).
Day 3: Cairo to Luxor, Nile Cruise embarkation
Breakfast and hotel check out, then transfer to Cairo Domestic Airport for your flight to Luxor to board the Oberoi Philae Cruiser for a 5-day journey through Egypt’s history. Enjoy a welcome Zaffa with drums and flutes, lunch on board, then visit Luxor Temple and the Temple of Karnak on the East Bank. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge, followed by evening canapés with complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer, then dinner.
Day 4: Luxor West Bank, sailing to Esna
After breakfast on board, tour the West Bank with visits to the Valley of the Kings, at least one tomb in the Valley of the Queens, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Day 5: Edfu and Kom Ombo
Breakfast on board, then visit the Temple of Edfu. Lunch is served while cruising to Kom Ombo, followed by a visit to the Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek, set on a bend in the Nile. Return to the boat for afternoon tea, with an Egyptian cooking lesson while sailing to Aswan. Evening entertainment is an “Egyptian Night” costume party with the option to dress in traditional gallabiyahs, followed by a buffet of Egyptian specialities.
Day 6: Philae Temple and Aswan
Breakfast on board, then enjoy the morning at leisure. After lunch, take a short motorboat ride to Philae Temple on Agilika Island, then continue to the Granite Quarries and the huge unfinished obelisk.
