Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Arrive at Cairo International Airport, where an Odyssey Travel representative will welcome you and assist through immigration. Transfer by modern air-conditioned coach to your hotel, with support for a smooth check-in. Overnight in Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Superior Garden View rooms.

Day 2: Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara

After breakfast, begin a guided tour to the Great Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus) and the Great Sphinx, with the option to visit a papyrus institute or perfume shop afterwards. Lunch can be served at an oriental restaurant. Continue in the afternoon to Memphis and Sakkara, including the Step Pyramid, with your Egyptologist bringing the sites to life. Return to your hotel and overnight in Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Superior Garden View rooms.

Day 3: Cairo to Luxor, Nile Cruise embarkation

Breakfast and check out, then an escorted transfer to Cairo Domestic Airport for your flight to Luxor (or Aswan) to board the 5-star deluxe Oberoi Philae Cruiser for a 5-day voyage. Board at the private dock in Luxor and enjoy a welcome Zaffa with drums and flutes, followed by lunch on board. After lunch, explore Luxor Temple and the Temple of Karnak on the East Bank. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge, then evening canapés with complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer, followed by a gourmet dinner.

Day 4: Luxor West Bank, sailing to Esna

After breakfast on board, visit the Valley of the Kings, at least one tomb in the Valley of the Queens, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, passing the Colossi of Memnon on the way back to the Nile. Enjoy lunch on board as the boat sails to Esna, with afternoon tea later. Dinner is followed by movie night on board.

Day 5: Temple of Edfu and Temple of Kom Ombo

Breakfast on board, then visit the Temple of Edfu. Lunch is served while cruising to Kom Ombo, followed by a visit to Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek, set on a bend in the Nile. Return to the boat for afternoon tea in the lounge, with the option to take part in an Egyptian cooking lesson as you sail to Aswan. In the evening, enjoy an “Egyptian Night” costume party with the chance to dress in traditional gallabiyahs, followed by a buffet of Egyptian specialities.

Day 6: Philae Temple and Aswan

Breakfast on board, then a morning at leisure. After lunch, take a short motorboat ride to Philae Temple on Agilika Island, then continue to the Granite Quarries and the huge unfinished obelisk. Later, enjoy a felucca ride around Elephantine Island, Lord Kitchener’s Botanical Gardens, and views of the Agha Khan Mausoleum (weather permitting, life jackets provided). Afternoon tea is served in the lounge, followed by a farewell gala dinner with white-gloved service, then a folkloric show and a dervish show after dinner.

Day 7: Aswan to Cairo

Disembark after breakfast and transfer to Aswan (or Luxor) airport for your flight to Cairo. On arrival, your Odyssey Travel representative will meet you and escort you to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Superior Garden View rooms.

Day 8: Grand Egyptian Museum, National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Citadel and Khan El Khalili

Breakfast at the hotel, then begin a full-day tour starting with the Grand Egyptian Museum near the Giza Pyramids. Continue through downtown to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, designed to present Egyptian civilisation from prehistory to the present day. Later, visit the Citadel and the Mohamed Ali Mosque (Alabaster Mosque), then head to Khan El Khalili Bazaar for time to explore its narrow alleyways, cafes, and shops, with context from your guide on the surrounding historic mosques and quarter. Return to your hotel and overnight in Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Superior Garden View rooms.

Day 9: Departure

Final departure transfers after breakfast from the hotel. Odyssey Travel representative will escort you and assist with check-in for your flight.
