Botswana Focus

£3,570.00

This 9-day itinerary links four very different experiences into one clean route, starting with the raw spectacle of Victoria Falls, then shifting into classic safari rhythm on the Chobe Riverfront, before pushing into the Khwai Community Area beside Moremi where big-game sightings can be intense and close-range. You finish in the Okavango Panhandle, where permanent water and wetlands change the whole feel of the trip, with boating and mokoro time taking centre stage.

Day 1 to 3: Victoria Falls

Arrive and settle in at Pioneers Victoria Falls on a bed and breakfast basis. You have two days to explore the falls and the town, with optional activities available locally such as guided visits to the viewpoints, sunset cruises on the upper Zambezi, scenic flights, and adventure options like rafting or bungee jumping (all at own expense).

Day 3 to 5: Chobe Riverfront

Travel from Victoria Falls into Botswana and continue to the Chobe Riverfront for a two-night stay at Chobe Bakwena Lodge. Time is spent on safari activities focused around the river and floodplains, where elephant are exceptionally common, alongside hippo and buffalo, with strong chances of predators near the water and excellent birdlife.

Day 5 to 7: Khwai Community Area

Continue to the Khwai Community Area for a two-night fully inclusive stay at Sango Safari Camp. Game drives concentrate around the Khwai River, the natural boundary with Moremi, with good potential for leopard and lion sightings, and the flexibility that comes with being outside the national park (activities such as night drives, off-road tracking, and walks may be possible depending on camp operations and local rules). Village visits and mokoro-style excursions may also be available in the area, depending on conditions and arrangements.

Day 7 to 9: Okavango Panhandle

Travel north to the Okavango Panhandle and check in to Kala Camp for two nights. This region is defined by deep, permanent water and wetlands, so activities are typically river-based rather than classic plains safaris, with boating and fishing, abundant birdlife, and regular hippo and crocodile sightings. If logistics allow, there may be an option to visit Tsodilo Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage area known for rock art.
