Case Study: An unforgettable honeymoon in Costa Rica

Olivia and Martin knew they wanted an unforgettable honeymoon, so when they approached us to help curate a tour to Costa Rica, we were honoured to help provide them an exciting and memorable experience!

If there’s one thing we love to see when our clients go away, it’s an abundance of gorgeous pictures to show off the scenery, wildlife and pure fun being had across the globe… and Olivia kindly updated her Instagram throughout her trip, reminding us of why we also love Costa Rica so much.

With wonderful daily snaps of almost every activity and sight, we can luckily show off the glory of Costa Rica and its suitability as a prime spot for a captivating honeymoon.

             

The first few days were spent at the Peace Lodge & Waterfall Gardens, a luxurious lodge providing a tranquil and serene setting, surrounded by lush rainforest and stunning scenery showcasing the Poás Volcano.

“Amazing views, beautiful waterfalls, superb room with “that bathroom”, hummingbirds feeding on our balcony, all topped off with excellent food and the most attentive and friendly staff. Thank you for an amazing couple of days!”, Olivia wrote, bestowing a plethora of beautiful photos of the surroundings!

             

At the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, you can encounter various animal exhibits, including a hummingbird garden, butterfly observatory, serpentarium, jungle cat exhibit, and bird aviary. You can also see rescued wildlife such as monkeys, jaguars, and sloths, which are being rehabilitated and cared for at the park.

“The Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment did not have the resources to care for the 35 felines so they were placed under the care of La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The cats were either very old, injured, or had been exposed to humans for too long to be released back into the wild. Their mission is to preserve the genetics of these tropical species of felines”.

             

This was followed by a stay in the luxurious Parador Resort & Spa, located on an idyllic hilltop overlooking luscious rainforest and tropical splendour in Manuel Antonio. The accommodation is situated conveniently close to Manuel Antonio National Park, lending itself to an array of scintillating wildlife sightings!

From a river cruise and kayaking, “we saw a couple of different types of Kingfishers, snakes coiled up in trees and a few crocs!”, exploring the Golfo Dulce and looking for dolphins, to immersing themselves in the nature thriving around them, the next few days spent at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge were as exhilarating as the rest…

What’s more scenic than seeing Costa Rica? Seeing Costa Rica from the air, of course! At the end of a trip to the southern tip of Costa Rica, guests typically return to San Jose by light aircraft. We know from personal experience that this is no ordinary flight. I fondly recall my experience of this ‘minibus in the sky’ when sitting at the ‘departure lounge’ (tiki hut bar) searching for the all-important departure board so I didn’t miss our flight.  When I asked the bartender how do we know when to leave for the gate, he answered, ‘You hear the plane land.  You have until it turns around at the end of the runway to finish your beer and walk to the runway.”  Sitting in this plane literally 12 inches from the pilot (who sipped on a 16oz Big Gulp as we ascended into the gloom of the clouds) was an exhilarating airbourne experience I’ll never forget. I left out some of this detail when describing it to Olivia, but I think they found the journey equally memorable!

             

“Last but not least, we enjoyed a lovely stay at Xandari Resort and Spa for our last night. Loved exploring the gardens and waterfalls on our last day. Beautiful colours and decoration – there was so much to look at, the stained glass window definitely my favourite!”
