Borneo Eagle has landed

Borneo Eagle is soaring

The first luxury Borneo resort opening in ten years arrived this summer, and it’s the epitome of peace and tranquillity. Ideal for luxury Borneo honeymoons, special celebrations and getaways, you can be among the first to escape to Borneo Eagle Resort.

Echo Resorts, the family group behind the renowned Bunga Raya and Gayana Marine Resort on Gaya Island, opened the doors of Borneo Eagle Resort in May 2018. Located on a small island 10km off the western coast of Sabah, the resort can be reached within 2 hours of Kota Kinabalu and BKI international airport. The island of Palau Tiga was only before known as the set of the first TV season of ‘Survivor’, and home to a small basic resort offering trips to the mud volcanoes and dive excursions.

What to do at Borneo Eagle

Borneo Eagle Resort has been sensitively incorporated into its remote island location. With just 13 luxurious private pool villas, stretched along 1km of white sandy beach, your retreat to the island will be uninterrupted. You can enjoy refreshments in the Main Restaurant or Wine Pavilion or choose complimentary room service and private in-room massage, only leaving your villa to jump straight into the clear blue South China Sea and snorkel on the coral reef with the underworld. Kayaks and paddle boards are complimentary and Scuba diving can also be pre-arranged.

We met Gillian Tan last month, the daughter of Echo Resorts’ founder, and owner of Borneo Eagle. She couldn’t be more excited for the grand opening!  Passionate for guest experience and community improvement, Gillian explained to us the programme developed to bring young men and women from local tribes into hospitality employment, many of whom now enjoy senior positions within the resort group.

A retreat to Borneo Eagle Resort is an indulgent luxury after your visit to the wonderful rainforests and jungles of Borneo. Limited guest numbers and the package price makes this the best resort in Borneo for ultimate seclusion and discretion. Families are welcome and villas are spacious enough to ensure complete privacy.

Borneo Eagle Resort can be booked through Odyssey World as part of your tailor made tour to Borneo. 3 night half board packages for 2ppl include boat transfers, a complimentary massage, a selection of drinks and non-motorised water sports. Prices start at £1,300 per person.
