A is for Arabia…

D is for Drakensberg Mountains…

South Africa might not be the first place you think of for mountains – but the beautiful Drakensberg Mountain range is bursting with Boer battle sites, thundering waterfalls, ancient rock art, breathtaking gorges and the highest peak in the country. For a unique perspective, board the train with Rovos Rail and wind your way through its incredible passes.

E is for Erfoud…

Marking the way to one of Morocco’s most spectacular sites stands the gateway town of Erfoud. Beyond here, you will find the towering sand dunes at Merzouga, in the Sahara Desert. Surrounded by the golden sands, you can spend the night under the stars in a traditional tented camp and enjoy the incredible silence, space and uncountable stars the desert has to offer.

F is for Fjords.

For incredibly dramatic fjords which plunge into beautiful blue waters, you’ll need to head to northern Oman. Here, in the straights of Musandam you’ll find a landscape best explored by Dhow (a traditional Omani sailing vessel). Among these majestic peaks you can swim with dolphins, snorkel in crystal waters and anchor up at the famous Telegraph Island for lunch.
