Day 1: Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport (or pick-up from Arusha) and transfer to Moshi for a much-needed rest before the climb. Overnight at Springlands Hotel (Half Board).

Day 2: Mandara Huts (Mount Kilimanjaro)

Drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate to sign in and make final preparations, then begin the climb through misty montane rainforest. Porters move ahead with supplies and kit, and you can choose a more scenic forest path beside a stream before rejoining the main trail. Overnight at Mandara Huts (Full Board).

Day 3: Horombo Huts (Mount Kilimanjaro)

Climb out of the forest and into the moorland zone, skirting Maundi Crater with the option of a short detour up the rim for your first big view towards Kibo. Look out for Kilimanjaro’s standout plants including giant lobelia and groundsel, then arrive at Horombo for rest and a hot meal. Overnight at Horombo Huts (Full Board).

Day 4: Kibo Hut (Mount Kilimanjaro)

Continue the ascent from Horombo to the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, taking the less taxing lower trail via the last watering point. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the alpine desert, then spend the afternoon preparing equipment and layers for the summit attempt later that night. Overnight at Kibo Hut (Full Board).

Day 5: Summit (Uhuru Peak) – Horombo Huts

Your summit push begins at night after tea and biscuits, climbing steeply via Hans Meyer Cave to Gillman’s Point on the crater rim, then on to Uhuru Peak (5,896m). After time at the summit depends on conditions, descend back to Kibo to collect gear, then continue down to Horombo for your final night on the mountain. Overnight at Horombo Huts (Full Board).

Day 6: Horombo Huts – Marangu Gate – Moshi

After breakfast, descend past Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificate, square up with the porters once all your gear is accounted for, then transfer back to Moshi for a shower and a proper meal. Overnight at Springlands Hotel (Full Board).
