Jordan Self Drive

Day 1: Arrival Amman

Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport where airport staff will meet you at the gate and assist with visa and customs formalities. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Amman, allowing time to rest after your flight or take a first gentle look at the Jordanian capital.

Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Amman

Your rental car will be delivered to your hotel at around 9am. Begin with a self-guided city tour of Amman before driving north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Wander through colonnaded streets, theatres and temples before returning to Amman for the evening.

Day 3: Amman – Madaba – Mt Nebo – Feynan

Drive south to Madaba to visit St George’s Church and its famous mosaic map, along with the Archaeological Park and Apostles Church. Continue to Mt Nebo for views across the Jordan Valley, then descend towards Wadi Feynan. Arrive at the eco-lodge in time for a short sunset walk and evening stargazing.

Day 4: Feynan

A full day at Feynan with no vehicle use planned. Join one of the lodge’s guided walks or simply relax in the desert surroundings. Optional activities may include hikes to ancient copper mines, archaeological sites or quiet wadis, depending on conditions and preference.

Day 5: Feynan – Petra

Enjoy a final morning activity or walk at Feynan before driving on to Petra. The route leads through changing landscapes as you approach Wadi Musa. Settle into your hotel, located close to the Petra entrance, and prepare for the following day’s exploration.

Day 6: Petra

A full day dedicated to Petra, beginning with a guided visit along the main trail. Walk from the Visitor Centre through the Siq to the Treasury, then continue past the theatre, Royal Tombs, colonnaded street, Great Temple and Qasr al-Bint. The afternoon allows time to climb to the Monastery or explore further independently.

Day 7: Petra – Little Petra – Wadi Rum

Drive from Petra to Little Petra to explore the smaller Nabataean site, once used as a caravan stop. Continue south to Wadi Rum where you leave your car and transfer into a 4×4 vehicle for a five-hour desert excursion with picnic lunch. The day ends at a Bedouin camp beneath the stars.

Day 8: Wadi Rum – Karak – Dead Sea

After breakfast, collect your car and drive north, stopping at the Crusader castle of Karak. Continue down to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. On arrival, drop off the rental car at your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the water.

Day 9: Dead Sea

A full free day at the Dead Sea with no driving planned. Float in the mineral-rich waters, enjoy the spa facilities or simply rest and take in the stark desert scenery surrounding the shoreline.

Day 10: Dead Sea – Amman Airport

Transfer from your Dead Sea hotel to Amman International Airport for your departure flight home.
