Day 1: Departure

Fly from London Heathrow on an overnight flight to Colombo via Dubai.

Day 2: Arrive Colombo, Sri Lanka

Met on arrival and transferred to your 4-star hotel. Uninterrupted ocean views and 4-star facilities make this the perfect place to relax and recuperate after your flight.

Day 3: Kandalama

Head inland to one of Sri Lanka’s most impressive sights – the rock fortress of Sigiriya.

Built on a huge column of rock nearly 200m high with near vertical walls, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most visited in Sri Lanka. At its summit is an intricately laid out palace with gardens, water features, shrines and a museum to answer your questions.

Day 4: Kandy

Kandy is Sri Lanka’s second largest city. Surrounded by hills and home to the ‘Temple of the Tooth.’ A golden roofed temple housing a tooth of the Buddha. Kandy is a cultural hotspot, and you’ll witness spectacular traditional dances as you explore the city on an afternoon tour.

Day 5: Udawattekele

Enjoy a hike through the lush jungle reserve of Udawattakele spotting monkeys and birdlife. Once the royal forest, it has been protected since ancient times. In the afternoon you’ll have time to explore more of Kandy or pay a visit to the Botanical Gardens.

Famous for its elephants, leopards, bears, crocodiles and wild boar, Yala National Park is the second largest park in Sri Lanka and has the highest concentration of leopards in the world.

Another chance for animal spotting again today with a morning game drive and a guided nature trail walk. Head down to the beach to visit the fishermen and watch the sea crabs scuttle around and if you’re lucky, spot a leopard on your walk.

Day 8: Galle

Visit the beautiful city of Galle, stopping en route at the Turtle Hatchery in Rekawa, a sanctuary which protects nesting turtles from predators and is home to five of the eight species of marine turtles in the world.

Galle is an exotic town in the south of the country whose colonial architecture is framed by a tropical backdrop. At its centre is a huge historical Dutch Fort, built in 1663, and your boutique hotel sits in the walls overlooking its bustling centre.
