Unleash your inner explorer as you climb Mount Kinabalu, discover Borneo’s amazing wildlife, cruise down jungle rivers and visit with local tribes.

Day 1: Departure

Fly from your home airport through Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan, Borneo.

Day 2: Arrive Borneo

Upon arrival at Sandakan airport, you will be met and transferred to Sepilok MY Nature Resort. There are a wide range of activities in the area – the highlight being the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Rainforest Discovery Centre, both just a short walk away.

Day 3: Sepilok Orangutan Centre and Sun Bears (B ,L ,D)

Today is at your leisure to explore and visit the attractions in the Sepilok area, from the famous Orangutan Sanctuary to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. A complimentary tour of the orangutan and sun bear Centre is included in your package.

Day 4: Sepilok – Kinabatangan (B, L, D)

After breakfast, take a boat cruise to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary passing pristine mangrove forests and searching for wildlife. Check into Abai Jungle Lodge, where you will enjoy two days of river safaris and rainforest wildlife spotting.

Day 5: Pitas Lake – Abai Village (B,L,D)

An early start this morning departing around 06:30 hours on a boat trip wildlife spotting as the sun rises over the nearby Pitas Lake before returning to the lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast visit the nearby Abai Village to participate in a local tree planting project.

Day 6:  Abai – Kinabatangan River – Sandakan – Kota Kinabalu (B)

After breakfast you will head back to Sandakan on an hour’s boat cruise along the Kinabatangan River. Upon arrival at Sandakan Jetty join your transfer to Sandakan airport.

Take the short flight to Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel for one night in the city.

Day 7:  Kinabalu Park (B,L,D)

 This Mount Kinabalu Climbing package begins with a 2-hour (90 km) journey through breath taking scenery to Kinabalu Park. En route, make a stop at Nabalu village to savour local fruits and to shop for local handicrafts. Upon arrival at Kinabalu Park, check in to the Park Hostel. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax or explore the one of the trails or the park surroundings on your own.

Day 8: Mt Kinabalu Climb (B,L,D)

After breakfast check-in at Park Headquarters to take the coach 15 minutes up to the Power Station for the start of your trek to Laban Rata (10,700ft). The trek takes about 5 hours and en-route you can witness spectacular sights and fascinating vegetation.

Mount Kinabalu towers over the 477 sq miles (767 sq km) of Kinabalu National Park. Standing at 13,435ft (4,095 metres), the mountain can be difficult to climb (subject to weather conditions and fitness levels); however it requires no special skills or equipment, just lots of stamina!

Arrive at Base Camp @ 3272m and check into your accommodation (shared bunk room, dormitory style). Dinner will be served at Laban Rata Resthouse.

Day 9: Ascend / Descend (B, L)

Wake up early this morning to leave at 02:00 – 03:00 hours and commence the climb to the summit of Mt Kinabalu by torchlight. The climb will take approximately 3 hours arriving in time to catch the sunrise at the summit at around 06:00 hours.

Afterwards descend to Laban Rata Guesthouse for breakfast, then back to the Power Station to meet your transfer to the park’s restaurant for lunch. Collect your climbing certificate before returning to Kota Kinabalu and your hotel for a well-deserved rest!

Day 10-11: Gaya Island Resort

Days at leisure to relax enjoying the island and its surrounds.

You can enjoy a selection of non-motorised water sports equipment and choose to explore the island. Go Kayaking and snorkelling. There is also guided nature walks available, sunset cruises, a heavenly spa and island excursions.

Day 12: Departure

Transfer back to the mainland for your homebound flight.
