Ultimate South Africa Odyssey

On arrival in Johannesburg you will be met by our South African represented and transferred in a private vehicle to your boutique hotel. Check in and relax by the swimming pool or take a stroll around the hotel’s beautifully manicured gardens. Originally a private residence, your modern, urban chic hotel now boasts 16 individual and beautifully designed rooms with every amenity you could wish for. On site there is a secluded outdoor swimming pool and two restaurants.

Day 3: Johannesburg at leisure (B)

Day 4: Kapama (B, D)

Take the short flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport, where you will be met and transferred to Kapama River Lodge. Kapama is a privately owned game reserve sitting between the Drakensberg Mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park. The park is home to the Big 5, so you can keep your eyes peels for lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Your lodge is stylishly furnished and idyllically positioned with its natural setting to maximise your exposure to wildlife and provide a relaxing and luxurious getaway. Your spacious, air-conditioned suite gives you uninterrupted views across the Big 5 game reserve and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot animals up close with two daily safari activities, plus all your meals, teas and snacks included.

Day 5 – 7 July – Safari Activities (B, L, D)

Three days to enjoy the lodge’s superb facilities and spend time exploring the park and watching for wildlife.

Day 8: Cape Town (B)

Fly to Cape Town where you will be met and transferred to your Waterfront Hotel, with majestic views over Table Mountain and the historic harbour. Your hotel occupies a beautiful 19th century building with an environmentally-friendly attitude. Each of its 191 guest rooms features recycled floors and furniture. There is also onsite dining, a fitness centre and a spa – perfect for a relaxing treatment after your time in the wilderness.  Situated near the main routes to beaches, mountain walks and Cape Town’s city hotspots you’ll find it the ideal location to get out and explore.  Situated between Robben Island and Table Mountain in the heart of Cape Town’s working harbour, the V&A Waterfront has become one of South Africa’s most visited destinations. A wonderful mix of shopping and entertainment venues, offices, and luxury hotels and apartments all overlooking the harbour makes this a wonderful place to while away a few hours.

Day 9: Springboks v Lions 2nd Test (B)

Spend the morning at leisure. In the afternoon enjoy the Springboks v Lions 2nd Test

You will be collected from your hotel this morning for a full day tour taking in the Atalntic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, ending at Hout Bay, a small fishing harbour with magnificent mountain views. Continue via Chapman’s Peak – a breath-taking coastal drive to the Cape of Good Hop eNature Reserve. Visit historic Simon’s Town, famous for its penguin colony at Boulders Beach and it charming Victorian architecture. End your day with a visit to the fascinating Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.

A full day tour taking in one of the city’s most famous attractions. Your tour starts with a ferry ride across the bay to Robben Island., the penal colony which incarcerated Nelson Mandela for 18 years. Today this World Heritage Site is a poignant reminder of the price of freedom. Experience the island by bus before exploring the prison itself. Return to the mainland via ferry and drive through Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the city, its cuisine and culture. Take a stroll through the Company Gardens, see the arch-like monument dedicated to Desmond Tutu next to the historic St George’s Cathedral and step inside the Slave Lodge which explores the history and diversity of South Africa. Continue by Cable Car to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting – cable car fee not included) and enjoy panoramic views over the city and across to Robben Island.

Transfer to Stellenbosch where you will check into your contemporary hotel in the heart of the winelands. Built in the style of a village, your hotel has lush green lawns, private courtyards each with its own swimming pool and a lounge, bar, terrace and a restaurant.   In the evening you will enjoy a mini wine tasting of the estates wines in the light and airy tasting room.

Offering beautiful beaches, mountain walks, a famous arts and crafts market and even shark cage diving, Hermanus is a haven for wildlife lovers, foodies and even adrenalin junkies. The town offers wonderful restaurants and cafes and is a wine lovers paradise with nearby wine farms offering wine tasting. The town is also famous for its whale watching and during the whale season it is almost impossible not to see a whale.  Your tour includes entrance to the Old Harbour Museum, the Botanical Gardens and a wine tasting.

Or… If you’re feeling brave you could don a wet suit and hop into a shark cage for an exhilarating underwater adventure to spot the legendary Great white Shark, but also dolphins, whales, seals and penguins.

Spend the day indulging in some of South Africa’s finest wines as you explore Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Billed as the gourmet capital, Franschhoek sits in a beautiful valley and is home to a multitude of fine restaurants. Continue to Paarl, a farming district at the foot of a cluster of granite domes.

Transfer to Cape Town airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Enjoy the morning at leisure. Your driver will transfer you to the stadium for the 3rd Test. After the match, your driver will meet you for transfer back to your hotel.

Transfer back to O.R Tambo Airport for your international flight to London.
