This wonderful private tailor made tour of Oman takes you in a circle of the northern region of Oman. From Muscat to Sur, the Wahiba Sands to Nizwa.

Enjoy the scenery of luscious green Wadi Oasis’ and dry deserts dunes, combined with the diverse cultural traditions of Omani lifestyle visiting fishing villages, Beduoin camps and Omani souqs. Camp out under the stars in local desert camps, and travel in a 4WD vehicle enjoying exhilarating rides through the desert dunes with your private driver/guide.

Day 1: Departure

Depart London Heathrow this evening on an overnight flight with Oman Air.

Day 2: Arrive Muscat

Arrive Muscat this morning where you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for the next 2 nights. Overnight: Muscat Hotel, please ask us for options. Please note that your accommodation may not be available until the afternoon.

Day 3: Muscat (B)

Morning tour of Muscat. Visit the stunning Sultan Qaboos mosque, then afterwards a drive through the smart diplomatic quarter we visit Muscat's Natural History Museum to study the flora and fauna of Oman. Next stop is the Omani Museum with its wealth of exhibits on the country's cultural heritage.

Then to Muttrah port to visit the fish market, stroll along the Corniche, with its beautiful merchants' houses, and to the delights of the busy souk, noted for its silverware, perfumes and spices. In Muscat itself we'll see the fascinating old town around the Sultan's Palace including the forts of Jalali and Mirani. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: The Coast Road to Sur (B/L/D)

We take to land cruisers for the off-road trip following the magnificent coastline. The itinerary includes Quriyat, famous for beautiful beaches, a curious ‘sinkhole’, where part of a mountain collapsed and filled with seawater, and White Beach, where picnic lunch is served.

Continue onto Ras al Jinz to see the turtles come ashore in the evening to lay their eggs. Overnight at the Raz Al Jinz Carapace Lodge. Please note the accommodation here is basic and of course turtle sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Day 5: Wahiba Sands (B/L/D)

A short tour of the ancient seafaring town of Sur. Proceed to Wadi banikhalid, comprising of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains, the Wadi has clear deep blue water. Then to the mystical desert and rolling dunes of the Wahiba Sands for an exciting drive.

Check in to your accommodation for the night. Overnight in 1000 Nights Camp (wool tents). Upgrade available to the luxurious Desert Nights Camp for a supplement, please ask us.

Day 6: Nizwa (B)

Drive to Mudairib village, famous for its many watchtowers. Visit the Al Hoota Caves en-route to Nizwa the cultural capital of Oman. Check in at your hotel. Evening short drive to Nizwa Souq. Overnight: Falaz Daris Hotel, Nizwa.

Day 7: Nizwa / Jabel Akhdar (B/L)

Enjoy the sights of Nizwa and journey up into the fantastic Jabel Akhdar mountain range. Lunch is included, time to explore this fascinating area with your guide. Overnight: Falaz Daris Hotel, Nizwa

Day 8: Return to Muscat (B/L)

Leave Nizwa this morning and return to Muscat via the old partially deserted villages of Al Hamra and Misfah - lunch is included. Arrive Muscat and check-in to your hotel.

Day 9: Muscat (B)

After breakfast, return to the airport in a private vehicle for your departure flight - or why not extend your trip in Oman with a few nights in Salalah in the south or Musandam in the north. Please ask us for details/see below.

3-nights

Day 1: Salalah

Take a flight from Muscat to Salalah, check-in to your hotel on arrival, afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Salalah Hotel, please ask us for options.

Day 2: Salalah Touring (B)

Sightseeing in the Dhofar region today after breakfast. A morning tour of the impressive Qara mountains taking in Job's Tomb, the frankincense road to Yemen and Mughsayl Beach, renowned for its seawater 'blow holes'.

After lunch in Salalah (on your own account) we explore the eastern Dhofar and Ayn Razat, at the foot of the Qara Mountains, with its natural springs, exotic plants and flora, and meet the Jebalis and their herds of camels. In Sumhumram we'll see the ruins of Queen Sheba's port city beside its natural harbour while Mirbat is admired for its beautiful Dhofari houses. Overnight: Salalah Hotel

Day 3: Salalah (B)

A full day at leisure and a chance to enjoy the facilities of your Hotel and the beach. Overnight: Salalah Hotel

Day 4: Muscat (B)

Return to Muscat
