This fabulous 14-day tour visits the best of Tanzania - the southern Selous Game Reserve and the island of Pemba. In Selous, enjoy fantastic game viewing - some of the best in Tanzania - via a combination of game drives plus boat safaris whilst staying in indulgent bush luxury.

Explore the Tanzania Reserve and hopefully see elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles and the rare African Wild Dogs. End your wildlife experience with a relaxing break on remote Pemba Island, Zanzibar's sister island just off the coast of Tanzania.

Day 1: Arrive Tanzania

Land Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Selous Game Reserve (B/L/D)

Today, your safari begins with a short flight from Dar es Salaam airport to Simbazi airstrip in the Selous Game Reserve. On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide in an open safari vehicle and taken to the Amara Selous camp, located at the heart of the Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania, alongside the Ruaha River.

You will have four nights at the Amara Selous, which will allow you plenty of time to explore this amazing game reserve, famous for its large tusked elephants and being one of the best places to see the endangered African Wild Dogs.

Days 3 - 5: Selous Game Reserve (B/L/D)

For the next 3 days you will enjoy a variety of game viewing experiences including game drives, boat rides on the Rusha River and, for those more adventurous types, walking safaris. Each day you will return to the comforts of the Amara Selous, where all your meals and drinks are catered for. Enjoy fabulous sunsets while sipping sundowners.

Day 6: Pemba Island (B)

After your four night stay in the Selous Game Reserve you will be driven to the airstrip for your flight to Pemba Island. Pemba is Zanzibar’s sister island, with white sandy beaches, gin-clear water and everything else you would expect from a tropical island setting.

On arrival you will be met by the Fundu Lagoon representative who will transfer you the short distance to the harbour. Here, the Fundu boat awaits you and you will be taken to the beautiful and tranquil Fundu Lagoon, located on a stunning beach on the south-west tip of the island.

Days 7 - 12: Pemba Island (B)

Enjoy the next 6 days in 'shabby chic' luxury at Fundu Lagoon. You are free to explore the mangroves by canoe, relax on a sunset dhow cruise or, if you are feeling adventurous, take advantage of the diving, watersports and fishing facilities at the resort.

Day 13: Departure (B)

At the end of your stay you will be taken to the airstrip and connect with a schedule flight to Dar es Salaam and onwards.
