Day 2: Arrive Nairobi (D)

On arrival into Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will have a safari briefing from your private ‘meet and greet’ driver/guide before the transfer to your overnight hotel – the beautiful, boutique House of Waine.

The remainder of your day is at leisure. There are many things to do in Nairobi – ask our expert for advice.

Day 3: Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)

Your guide will collect you this morning for the drive out of Nairobi to the lush Lake Naivasha, possibly Kenya’s most beautiful fresh water lake. You will arrive at your hotel – Governors Loldia House. This beautiful house is set on the banks of Lake Naivasha in delightful gardens, where your breakfast and lunch are taken under the acacia and fig trees. Dinner is taken around the dining table where you can share the day’s events with the other guests. In the evenings, hippos come to graze on the lawns.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)

There are many activities available during your stay at Loldia, so if you don’t wish to sit and watch the comings and goings on the lake, you can take a guided walk around the grounds and to the farm that make up this plantation, there are guided bird watching walks and much more. There is also the option to take an excursion to the nearby Lake Nakuru, home to thousands of pink flamingos, rhino, leopard and many more of Africa’s animals.

Day 5: Masa Mara (B,L,D)

Following breakfast this morning, transfer to the airstrip for the short flight down to the famous Masai Mara. On arrival you will be met by your guide for the drive to Little Governors Camp. Big game viewing starts now. Little Governors which has just 17 luxury tents, is reached by a short boat trip across the hippo filled river and is set overlooking a waterhole. These luxury tents all have decked areas to enable you take in the wonders around you. Warthogs and elephants are frequent visitors to the camp. Later this afternoon, take your first proper game drive in the Masai Mara.

Day 6: Masai Mara (B,L,D)

Today you will have both morning and afternoon game drives in the incredible Masai Mara. Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya's most famous wildlife reserve and everything about this reserve is outstanding.

The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight. Birds, too, are prolific, including migrants well over 450 species have been recorded, among them, 57 species of birds of prey.

You may wish to forgo your morning game drive and take the optional hot air balloon flight over the Mara followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush – this is a truly wonderful experience – please ask us for more details.

Overnight at Little Governors Camp.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Lake Victotria (B,L,D)

This morning after breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Mfangano Airstrip. You will be transferred by boat to the stunning island retreat, Governors owned Mfangano Island Camp. The word ‘camp’ does not do this place justice. The 6 double bedded cottages are individually designed and set throughout the tropical gardens. This really is an ‘away from it all’ oasis and you leave rejuvenated.

Days 8 & 9: Mfangano Island (B,L,D)

If all you desire is to laze in the sunshine, each of rooms has its own private veranda with sun beds. Or there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied. The food’s as fresh as can be, fished from the lake (hopefully by you!) or picked fresh from the island’s vegetable gardens and orchards. Overnight Mfangano island.

You can walk to the nearby village to meet with the local people or trek to see the Ancient Rock Art on Mfangano Island. Mfangano Island has two ancient rock art sites with some historically important cave art.
