With your hire car included and 10 nights boutique accommodation, you can send your days exploring volcanoes, lakes, rainforests and beaches. Day 1: Fly to Costa Rica

Arrive in San Jose where you will be met by your guide. A private transfer will then take you to Naranjo via the central volcanic mountain range. Enjoy beautiful landscapes before arriving at your Lodge, set deep into the cloud forest 1500m above sea level. From here you have the perfect vantage point of Costa Rica’s rich landscape – from the regions coffee fields to verdant jungle.

Day 2 & 3: Naranjo (B)

Wake up to stunning views across the coffee plantations and Costa Rica’s central valley. Enjoy a delicious breakfast with farm-fresh coffee before taking receipt of your hire car and heading out to explore. Within easy driving distance is the Paos Volcano with its enormous geyser crater. On the way you could visit a local farm, where together with a guide you will stroll through fields overflowing with strawberries; learn about local farming traditions; try your hand at milking a cow and check out the local cheeses. Alternatively, visit a coffee plantation where you can see how the innocuous looking red berries are transformed into the aromatic drink we all love (and can’t live without!)

Day 4: Arenal (B)

Drive to Arenal Volcano, making your way through rural villages including Zarcero, Ciudad Quesada and La Fortuna de San Carlos. Admire the imposing view of Arenal’s majestic volcani cone before checking into your hotel for the next two nights.

Day 5: Arenal  (B)

A day to put on your adventure hat and experience Costa Rica’s adrenilin-boosting attraction. Arenal Volcano National Park is on your doorstep and is host to plenty of exciting attractions and adventure activities including hot springs and water sports. One of the most popular highlights is the Arenal Hanging Bridges where you can walk through the rainforest canopy via a series of suspension bridges. Enjoy a birds-eye perspective of the forest and keep your eyes peeled for the animals and wildlife that live there.

Day 6: Rincon de la Vieja (B)

Leave Arenal and make your way to Rincon de la Vieja. Your route is lined with breathtaking scenery as you travel past Arenal Lake, the country’s largest lake measuring 33 square miles. It is the power behind the Arenal Dam, Costa Rica’s largest government owen hydro-electric power source. The area is also famed for its scenery, as rolling green hills meet the volcanic backdrop. The area is also well known for its cowboys, cattle ranches and expansive open fields. Check into your hotel next to Rincon de la Vieja National Park, in the heart of the tropical dry forest.

Day 7: Rincon de la Vieja (B)

A day to explore the national park. Take a nature hike into the park with a guide and keep your eyes peeled for its wonderful wildlife. The forest is home to over 150 species of birds and insects and you may be lucky enough to spot monkeys, toucans, agoutis and coatis.

Day 08: Guanacaste Beach (B)

Head to the northern Pacific Coast where you will leave the tropical dry forest and spend the next three nights at an ocean paradise with beautiful beaches, palm trees and golden sand.  Your hotel offers everything you need to relax and soak up the tranquil surroundings.

Day 09 & 10: Guanacaste Beach (B)

A day at leisure to make the most of your hotels luxurious amenities and incredible surroundings. The region is known for its extensive nature reserves that are home to an incredible array of wildlife and flora.

Day 11: Departure (B)

Return your hire car to the airport depot before boarding your flight home.
