Nong Kiau Riverside Lodge **

Nong Kiau is a small rustic town by the bridge where the Route 1 to Sam Neua and Vietnam crosses the Ou River. You can travel here by road from Luang Prabang (about 4 hours) or by boat (about 6 hours downstream). The boat trip to Luang Prabang is stunning and a great way to see the beautiful scenery of Laos.

The little settlement of Nong Kiau is blessed with probably the most attractive landscape in Northern Laos. The vertical limestone mountains and river offer magnificent scenery which takes your breath away. Nong Kiau Riverside stretches over 300 metres along the river and is surrounded by forest and mountains. There are hardly any other sounds other than the songs of hundreds of birds, as well as children playing in the nearby river.

All 15 bungalows feature a spacious, private room with large private balcony and a clean en-suite bathroom with shower. All rooms have electric kettles for tea and coffee. The balconies face the river and offer stunning views. Due to the limited electricity supply, air-conditioning is not provided.

The lodge is also able to arrange some excellent outdoor activities for guests to enjoy including kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, boat trips and even an exciting overnight camping trip to the highest mountain in Nong Kiau, Phou Nang None. This is a lovely quaint resort in the most beautiful location, well worth a visit from Luang Prabang or on the way to Luang Prabang from Luang Nam Tha Province (via Udomxai) in Northern Laos.
