Koh Kong is the most south-western province of Cambodia. It is one of the biggest provinces in the whole country with a long undeveloped coastline and a mountainous, forested and largely inaccessible interior, which embraces part of the Cardamom Mountains, the biggest coherent rainforest of Southeast Asia.

The town of Sihanoukville, also known as Kampong Som, is surrounded on 3 sides by the Bay of Thailand. From the beaches and surrounding hills, many of the country's small islands can be seen. Surrounded by white-sand beaches and undeveloped tropical islands, the port city and beach resort of Sihanoukville offers an excellent end to your stay in Cambodia.

The majestic temples of Angkor, in northwest Cambodia belong to the classic period of Khmer art and civilisation. They were the creation of a succession of Khmer kings who presided over an empire that dominated the region from 800 to 1430, reaching its peak in the 12th Century. From the 15th Century, the temples were abandoned and forgotten by the world until their rediscovery in 1861 by French naturalist Henri Mouhot. Today, many of the temples remain in surprisingly good condition while others are under restoration.

Like Phnom Penh, Siem Reap has a relaxed character and a local feel, but on a much smaller scale. The main attraction is the vast array of temples, only a short distance away, but there are other sites including the floating fishing village on Tonle Sap Lake and the European-funded craft school, Les Artisans D'Angkor-Chantier Ecole.

The Capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Phnom Penh was once considered the loveliest city in Indochina. On the confluence of the three rivers, the Mekong, the Bassac and the Tonle Sap, the city is rediscovering itself after surviving Cambodia's recent violent history: it has maintained a French colonial charm with many riverside restaurants and cafes.
