Enjoy this wonderful 13 day/12 night holiday to Cambodia which takes in the famous temples of Angkor, including Ta Prohm, the South Gate, Bayon Temple and the most famous temple of the whole complex, Angkor Wat. Travel onwards to Phnom Penh to witness the sad heritage of this fascinating country with visits to Choeung Ek (the Killing Fields) and the Toul Sleng Museum (S-21). Finally end this active holiday with some rest and relaxation time on the white sand beach of Sihanoukville. This is a lovely tour which takes in all that the country has to offer.


Day 1: Departure

Depart London Heathrow on direct flight with Singapore Airways to Singapore.

Day 2: Arrive Siem Reap

Land Singapore Transit and board the flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, your private transfer will collect you and transfer you to your chosen hotel.

Day 3: Temples of Angkor (B/-/-)

This morning visit the Roluos Group. The monuments of Roluos, which served as the capital of Indravarman I (reigned 877-89), are among the earliest large, permanent temples built by the Khmers and mark the beginning of Khmer classical art. In the afternoon you will visit the unique interior brick sculptures Prasat Kravan, the Srah Srang reservoir (known as "The Royal Baths", and once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by 4 concentric walls), Eastern Mebon (guarded at its corner by stone figures of harnessed elephants) and the mountain temple of Pre Rup until sunset. Overnight Siem Reap.

Day 4: Temples of Angkor (B/-/-)

This morning, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. This afternoon visit the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century), Bayon temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. End with sunset at Angkor Wat. Overnight Siem Reap.

Day 5: Temples of Angkor (B/-/-)

Transfer to the archaeological site for sunrise from Phnom Bakheng, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat. Afterwards transfer to Banteay Srei temple, regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer Art, and continue to Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. In the afternoon, you continue your temple visits to Preah Khan and Neak Pean, Ta Som and Banteay Samre, built in the third quarter of the 12th century. Overnight Siem Reap.

Day 6: Tonle Sap / at leisure (B/-/-)

After breakfast visit the floating village of Chhong Khneas, located 10 kilometres south of Siem Reap. Visit the village and take an excursion in a traditional wooden boat on the Tonle Sap Lake. This evening is at leisure. Overnight Siem Reap.

Day 7: Phnom Penh (B/-/-)

Today, transfer to Siem Reap airport for the short flight to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, your private transfer will collect you and transfer you to your chosen hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 8: Killing Fields / Tuol Sleng Museum (B/-/-)

Drive to the killing fields of Choeung Ek). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17.000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) detained and tortured at S-21 prison were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek. Return to Phnom Penh. Afterwards visit the Notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest such center of detention and torture in the country. Also visit the Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), a lively outdoor market for a spot of souvenir shopping. Overnight Phnom Penh.

Day 9: Sihanoukville (B/-/-)

This morning transfer down to the beach at Sihanoukville and the Sokha Beach Resort.

Days 10-12: At leisure (B/-/-)

Days at leisure to relax and enjoy the Resort.

Day 13: Departure (B/-/-)

Return private transfer back to Phnom Penh for the flight back to London Heathrow, via Singapore.
