Tailor Made Holidays to Oman
Experience culture and adventure on this wonderful 6-night holiday to Oman. You will begin the trip in Muscat for a few days before travelling off road to the coast in 4x4's. See the turtles at the Ras al Jinz beach and stay overnight in basic beach chalets. Continue onto the desert for an overnight adventure, before exploring the cultural town of Nizwa. Return to Muscat for some relaxation.

Day 1: Departure
Depart Heathrow this evening on an overnight flight.  

Day 2: Arrive Muscat
Arrive Muscat this morning where you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for the next 2 nights.
Overnight: Muscat Hotel, please ask us for options. Please note that your accommodation may not be available until the afternoon.

Day 3: Muscat
Morning tour of Muscat. After a drive through the smart diplomatic quarter we visit Muscat's Natural History Museum to study the flora and fauna of Oman. Next stop is the Omani Museum with its wealth of exhibits on the country's cultural heritage. Then to Muttrah port to visit the fish market, stroll along the Corniche, with its beautiful merchants' houses, and to the delights of the busy souk, noted for its silverware, perfumes and spices. In Muscat itself we'll see the fascinating old town around the Sultan's Palace including the forts of Jalali and Mirani. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: The Coast Road
We take to land cruisers for the off-road trip following the magnificent coastline. The itinerary includes Quriyat, famous for beautiful beaches, a curious ‘sinkhole’, where part of a mountain collapsed and filled with seawater, and White Beach, where picnic lunch is served. Continue onto Ras al Jinz beach and the Nature Reserve.
Over night in Turtle beach Resort (Palm Huts). Please note the accommodation here is very basic.

Day 5: Wahiba Sands 
A short tour of the ancient seafaring town of Sur. Proceed to Wadi banikhalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water. Then to the mystical desert and rolling dunes of the Wahiba Sands for an exciting drive. After a lunch with a Bedouin family check in to your accommodation for the night.
Overnight in1000 night camp (wool tents). 

Day 6:  Nizwa
Drive to Mudairib village, famous for its many watchtowers, and Nizwa the cultural capital of Oman. Check in at hotel. Evening short drive to Nizwa Souq.
Overnight: Falaz Daris Hotel, Nizwa.

Day 7: Muscat
Transfer back to Muscat this morning and check-in to your chosen hotel.
Overnight: Muscat Hotel, ask us for options.

Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight back to the UK.

OPTIONAL EXTENSION to Salalah and Dhofar region;
3 nights / 4 days

Day 1: Salalah

Take a flight from Muscat to Salalah, check-in to your hotel on arrival, afternoon at leisure.
Overnight: Salalah Hotel

Day 2: Salalah
Sightseeing in the Dhofar region. A morning tour of the impressive Qara mountains taking in Job's Tomb, the frankincense road to Yemen and Mughsayl Beach, renowned for its seawater 'blow holes'. After lunch in Salalah we explore the eastern Dhofar and Ayn Razat, at the foot of the Qara Mountains, with its natural springs, exotic plants and flora, and meet the Jebalis and their herds of camels. In Sumhumram we'll see the ruins of Queen Sheba's port city beside its natural harbour while Mirbat is admired for its beautiful Dhofari houses.

Day 3: Salalah
A full day at leisure A chance to enjoy the facilities of your Hotel and the beach. If needed, taxis are available for the short ride into town.

Day 4: Muscat

Return to Muscat and connect to your International Flight to the UK. 

 
Price includes: International flights from the UK, 6 nights accommodation with breakfast, some lunches and dinner at Wahiba Sands,  private transfers, English-speaking driver/guide, accommodation based on 2 people sharing and touring as indicated.
