A 13 day privately escorted tour of Jordan & Syria. These two countries are so steeped in history and culture that you couldn't fail to enjoy a trip which combines them both. This popular tour offers you the highlights of both with their breathtaking sites and fascinating history. You will be staying in luxury hotels/houses and character properties throughout. 

Day 1: Depart the UK to Damascus
Depart the UK on your direct flight to Damascus. You will be met and privately transferred from the airport to your hotel in Damascus where you will overnight in a character property.

 
Day 2: Damascus
This morning you will be met by your English speaking guide for a full day tour of the UNESCO registered Old City of Damascus with its surrounding Roman wall and the Great Mosque of the Umayyads. Overnight in your Hotel in Damascus. 

Day 3: Crac Des Chevaliers & Aleppo
Today you will transfer down to the ancient city of Aleppo with stops en-route to visit the most famous medieval castle Crac Des Chevalier, built between 1150 and 1250 on a mountain pass between Turkey and Lebanon. Also pass by the famous Water Wheels at Hama, considered by many to be the most picturesque city in Syria. Transfer onwards to Aleppo for overnight.

Day 4: Aleppo 
This morning your guide will collect you for your full day tour of Aleppo. Historically one of the great commercial centres of the Middle East, Syria’s second city is almost as old as Damascus itself and just as interesting. Your tour will include a visit to the Citadel, the Grand Mosque and the souq. Overnight in your hotel in Aleppo.

Day 5: Palmyra
This morning take the drive to UNESCO registered Palmyra where you can see the famous Great Colonnade and the Triumphal Arch. Palmyra’s desert fortress lies in the centre of Syria between the Orontes River to the west and the Euphrates to the east. The town is overlooked by a 17th Century Arab Castle. Overnight in Palmyra.

Day 6: Temple of Bel, Palmyra
Today continue your tour of Palmyra with visits to the Temple of Bel with its fabulous columns and desert scenery and the Valley of the Tombs, an eerie Palmyrian burial site completely empty except for the large stone tombs that inhabit the sides of the mountains. Drive onwards to Damascus for your final night in Syria. 


Day 7: Bosra to Amman
Today you will transfer to the Syrian/Jordanian border with a stop en-route at the ancient city of Bosra, which played a significant role in early Christianity. The city flourished when it became a crossroads on the caravan routes and the official seat and residence of the Imperial Legate. After your visit, transfer into Jordan. When in Jordan, visit Ajloun National Park where you will walk around the ancient crusader fort before heading to the famous Roman City of Jerash. Here a private guide will accompany you around the ruins. Transfer onwards to Amman late afternoon. Overnight in your hotel in Amman.

 
Day 8: Madaba, Mt Nebo, Kerak & Dana Nature Reserve
This morning drive south along the Kings’ Way, visiting Mt. Nebo and the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley. Also visit Madaba, the ‘City of Mosaics’, with the oldest map of the Holy Land. Drive through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak to visit the Crusader Castle before arriving at Dana Nature Reserve’s Feynan Wilderness Lodge for overnight.

Day 9: Dana Nature Reserve
This morning enjoy your guided 5hr hike of the area. The Dana Nature Reserve contains a remarkable diversity of landscapes that range from wooded highlands to rocky slopes and from gravel plains to dunes of sand. Moreover, Dana supports a diverse range of wildlife, which includes a variety of rare species of plants and animals. This afternoon your guide will transfer you to Petra and your chosen hotel for the next 2 nights.

Day 10: Petra
Today you will enjoy a full day spent at Petra where you will have a private English-speaking guide for 3 hours to give you a tour of the ancient city and an insight into the Nabatean culture and history. The afternoon is free to explore the ruins. This evening enjoy the experience of cooking local Jordanian cuisine alongside local women in the Petra Kitchen. Overnight in Petra.

Day 11: Wadi Rum
Today enjoy another morning at leisure to explore Petra (entrance fee not included today). Afterwards venture in a 90 minute 4x4 Jeep Safari into the Wadi Rum Desert, the largest and most magnificent of Jordan's desert landscapes with sandstone mountains matching the colour of knife-edged dunes. Overnight under the stars in a local Bedouin camp where dinner is included.


Day 12: Dead Sea
Today transfer north to the Dead Sea for your final day enjoying the wonders of the Dead Sea experience. Overnight at your chosen hotel.

Day 13: Departure
This morning your guide will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to Amman airport
in time for your departure flight to the UK.
