Bartholomeus Klip is a romantic Victorian farmhouse on a working wheat and sheep farm, situated in the peaceful countryside near Wellington, just 75 minutes drive from Cape Town. The working farm follows the cycles of nature, with summer being the season of harvesting the wheat, and of new lambs being born.

The 4.000 hectare malaria-free private game reserve is also home to innovative buffalo and quagga breeding programs. In addition, Bartholomeus Klip boasts the largest population of the endangered geometric tortoise, which thrives in the local renosterveld fynbos.

The beautifully furnished farmhouse has four en-suite bedrooms, with a separate honeymoon suite overlooking the reserve and the dramatic Elandskloof Mountains lining the Riebeeck Valley. Their own range of toiletries created from herbs found in the reserve adds an extra touch to the Victorian-style bathrooms.

Bartholomeus Klip is renowned for its cuisine, which is generous, imaginative and varied. They are members of the Good Cooks Association, where the full experience is enhanced by the cuisine! Many of the ingredients are home grown, with high tea being a speciality of the farmhouse served on old family silver and handpainted porcelain china.

Walking, mountain biking, trout fishing in the dam, birdwatching and game drives are all activities that can be enjoyed by couples and families - with Wild Olive House providing privacy for families or those seeking a luxurious retreat.

Small, intimate functions are catered for in the Deckhouse overlooking the dam. Bartholomeus Klip is thus perfectly suited to tailor-made weddings, exclusive conferences and working retreats.
