Namibia & Botswana Tailor-made February 2011
In all our worldwide travels we have never experienced such isolated wilderness and staggering beauty. It was made all the more special because we were seeing it from low-level flying (sometimes very low!). The camps that we stayed at for the 3 nights were very comfortable and all in spectacular positions. We weren't in the air all the time, we walked quite a bit and went dune-sliding in the Land Rover (very exciting). We were really sorry when it was over!
We managed to find Kunene River Lodge after a few fly-rounds and spent a relaxing couple of days there. It's in a beautiful setting - very lush vegetation - like an oasis after all the very dry scenery. I would recommend it for a couple of night's stay while driving around that area. It's only let-down is the food - very limited menu - although what there was good.
We thought the Olive Grove was really great - very comfortable, stylish rooms and delicious food.
We had a trouble-free journey to Botswana and loved both Moremi Camp and Pom Pom Camp. It was really nice going in the off-season as we were practically the only ones there! The tents at Moremi were wonderful - really luxurious and spacious. The ones at Pom Pom not quite so good but they are all being replaced this year apparently. We had loads of wonderful wild life viewing and great guides. It would be interesting to go back in the flood season - everything was very dry (even though it was supposed to be the rainy season) and extremely hot and humid. We really appreciated the swimming pools at both Moremi and Pom Pom. The food was very good at both camps.
So thank you for all your hard work - it was a really great holiday which went (almost) without a hitch.
